Hello All
I was wanting some help with tips for the national home brew comp for 2014.
for categories that are more broad i.e. French or Belgian ale how is this judged? as there isn’t one specified set of rules? So if I brew a raspberry saison that is deff not BJCP rules could I enter?
Also where does imperial stout fit in is it the obvious Stout category or is this for traditional stout? i don’t want to enter a 9% imperial and everyone else’s is 4.5%!!!
I'm really looking forward to it.
cheers

Re: Help and suggestions
The BJCP guidelines can be found here:
http://www.bjcp.org/docs/2008_stylebook.pdf
Stouts is category 13 with sub category 13F being for Russian Imperial Stouts.
Fruit beer is category 20A which I think the Raspeberry Saison should be entered in (although I could be wrong).
I would definitely read the style guidelines as this will provide you with..well... guidance as to what the BJCP interpet the style to be like. This is also key as this is what the beer will ultimately be judged against at the competetion.
