A bit of a slow day today, so thought I'd post this up, especially as I racked and dry-hopped the beer this morning and it was smelling pretty good.
An India Red Ale
27 l @ 1.062
~80 IBU
75 % Low Colour Maris Otter
10 % Munich Malt
4 % Oat Malt
2.5 % Crystal Rye Malt
2.5 % Carafa Special III
2 % Dark Crystal Malt (200 EBC)
2 % Caramalt
2 % Special B
Mash 150 F/65 C for 90 mins
It was a bit of a pancake day brew, trying to use odds and ends up, but could end up being pretty sweet with all those different crystal type malts in there. Hopefully this will be mitigated by the bitterness and the low mash temp.
30 g Ahtanum (pellets) FWH ~ 15 IBU
30 g Warrior (leaf) @ 60 mins ~ 54 IBU
35 g Ahtanum (pellets) @ 10 mins ~ 5 IBU
35 g Ahtanum (pellets) @ 5 mins ~ 3 IBU
28 g Ahtanum (pellets) @ turn off
28 g Warrior (leaf) @ turn off
40 g Ahtanum (pellets) @ dry-hop
20 g Warrior (leaf) @ dry-hop
20 g Amarillo (pellets) @ dry-hop
20 g Kohatu (pellets) @ dry-hop
WLP005 Bedford British Ale Yeast
I'm hoping this one is all about the hops....

Re: Red Indian
8.5% crystal. non compliant with the Grundy 8% rule.
I like to keep a bottle of stimulant handy in case I see a snake, which I also keep handy.
