Just got this in the post from my man in Paris.......
....Apparently the monestry is having a referb and they have sold off a lot of their stock. His local off license sells all sorts of nice belgian beers and mananged to get a load.
Supposedly it's not normally available unless you go to the monestry in belgium, and even then it's not a dead cert.
I'll let you know how it tastes.

Re: Westvleteren XII
That was true, but this year they released some for general distribution for the first time (the gold lettering on the bottles indicates that these are from the distributed release, as from the Abbey the only indentifier was the cap). In the US they were selling box-sets of four bottles with a glass. Numbers were limited, so you've done well to lay hands on them.PMowdes wrote:Just got this in the post from my man in Paris.......

It's a very good beer, but it goes through cycles of drinkablity. Some years it's awful.

Re: Westvleteren XII
I opened a bottle of this with Rich P last night. What an awesome Beer. Really complex and rich, lots of dried fruit flavors, almonds, dark rum.
Well worth a taste if you can get your hands on it.

So apparently it is the best beer on the planet! and I've found it here for £192...hmm...can anyone lend me £185?
Re: Westvleteren XII
I think my French pal paid €13 euros a bottle. I have a glass as well but the stem snapped in transit.

Re: Westvleteren XII
US box sets were 80 bucks, so roughly the same price per bottle as that.PMowdes wrote:I think my French pal paid €13 euros a bottle. I have a glass as well but the stem snapped in transit.
