Malt
Full mash is en route, and I want some malt. What do everyone do to get such products? Is there any benefit to arrange a bulk delivery if anyone needs owt?
Long live SHA(T)!
Re: Malt
Malt is cheapest if you buy it in 25kg sacks. You probably only want base malts in that sort of quantity, but you could always split with someone else. Bristol Craft Brewers have sources grain through Arbor Ales a couple of times, and had Maris Otter for £17 a sack and Munich or Mild malt for £22.
As to sourcing smaller amounts of other things, it's worth going in on an order to split postage. The two suppliers I tend to use are The Malt Miller (grain, hops and White Labs yeast) - http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/ and BrewUK (all manner of things) - http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/
It's also worth asking around to see if people have any ends of bags that they might be willing to pass on as packages come in fixed sizes, particularly if it's something slightly less common.
