Unless I've missed this, any chance of a spell check function to assist those with dyslexic fingers, like myself?

Is there one in your browser? Chromium/chrome has one built in, probably addons/extensions for others.
(Chromium has underlined addons for me)

Firefox also has a built in spell checker.
If you're using Internet Explorer you'll need iespell or something similar

Ok, i'll just C&P into word prior to submitting on the forum.

Trouble is work computers are locked down to what apps you can use etc.

This brings up a whole set of arguments that I've seen alot. Usually you'll get the answer: Tell your users to stop using IE.

This is the most fucking annoying response that we developers see all the time. Basically it all comes from the anti-Microsoft bandwagon, which is the most tedious and useless bandwagon for idiots to jump on. The fact is that we as developers cannot, and must not develop applications with one browser in mind. It's certainly unacceptable to assume that everyone has all required plugins installed or are using a browser with certain capabilities onboard.

Your issue illustrates the problem in the best way. When accessing a site from work it's generally not possible to install required plugins, and you might even still be limited to using IE6 (even Microsoft want to see the back of that).

And to put my tuppence in on the IE vs Firefox/Chrome argument: I've been a web application developer for well over a decade, and part of the industry, one way or another for almost half my life. I've worked with various operating systems, browsers and web server environments, and I always come back to Windows and IE. I use both IE and Firefox... each has it's merits and each has it's flaws. Neither of them are perfect, nor is Chrome.

But bringing this back to the spell checker issue, I've looked into the available mods for PHPBB, and it doesn't look good. There are some mods out there but they don't seem to work particularly well... clunky is the word.

Typos are OK, constantly using larger for l*ger isn't. Fortunately we don't have much of that here :)

Yeah, I appreciate the pain any change may cause you Taz.

Not a problem, i'll just C&P into word, spell check it there and C&P back in if needed.

Oh yeah, we've upgraded now and are runningIE8 (I think) via Windows 7. Almost up to date!
