Judging on the 23rd. Waiting for clarifitcation from the BCB entry as it was entered in category 18 when this round is for category 16....

That's the problem with Belgian beers, they are strong and get you confused :)

Yes, but some clarity is needed or the entry will be disqualified, which helps nobody. What was the beer that was selected, and what style was it?

It was my belgian blonde, 18A. I think part of the problem is that there was no written or online information (that I was aware of) about the criteria for the competition. It was just "belgian and french beers" so I bought along what I had. It would be helpful if there was better information about rules, timescales and other details for future comps. I'm not really bothered about winning or losing, but it would be a bit annoying if I posted my entries and got disqualified. It would be nice to have feedback anyway.

Fair comments, but if you follow this thread back to the beginning it does state the June round as "Belgian and French Ales (Category 16)". This fits with the BJCP categories, but I can see where the confusion arose. The issue with timescales stems from the fact that local groups need to arrange judging. But I take the points as feedback, and it's useful in thinking about how the competitions work in the future.

I'm going to allow it to be judged as part of the competition on the basis that there was a lack of clarity and some misunderstanding.

I'm happy with that.

Steve: I'lI've not brought it to BCB yet. I'll bring some next week.
