Planning has begun for the next National Homebrew Competition. Venue as yet TBC (a larger venue than last year is needed), but it will be held on 15 September 2012, with a possible extra judging day prior to the event. Expectations are that it will be a sizeable event, likely bigger than in 2011.
Entries will be 1 litre in either 2x500-568ml bottles OR 3x 330ml bottles. Fees will be as in 2011.
Those currently planning to take the BJCP exam in the UK should consider putting themselves forward as judges.
BJCP categories will be followed, but may be collapsed depending on entries.
Stewards will be needed
Details will be updated on http://www.nationalhomebrewcompetition.org.uk

I volunteer as a judge.
In an entirely unconnected point, which was the smallest category that was not amalgamated with others last year?

German Wheat and Rye Beers - 7 entries, only 4 appeared. The rule of thumb applied was that 6 was enough to avoid automatic amalgamation.

Re: National Homebrew Competition 2012
Ali, I reckon it would be wise to specify 2 x 500ml bottles (or pint or close size) as it was a bit grim for some wringing the dregs out of the 330ml bottles, unless you specify 3 of that size.
I'll be happy to judge again.

"in two or three bottles" as a single bottle would be less flexible.alikocho wrote:Shall we say a litre (or there abouts)?

The kite fest should be the weekend before, but Upton Chilli Farm have just anounced that weekend will be their chilli-fest! Fortunately it's a 2-dayer so I can do that on the Sunday :)

Ah, you reminded me I'll be at a conference on 8 September. Date moved to 15th September, which should clear it all (including the Organic Fair).Trunky wrote:The kite fest should be the weekend before, but Upton Chilli Farm have just anounced that weekend will be their chilli-fest! Even better, two days of chilli-madness!
