Thanks to Roger for forwarding the e-mail, and can I now formally state that I am very much in favour of a quarterly peer-judged minicompetition. Bring on the milds.

Three times a year is doable, Mild, Summer Ale and WW.
Wouldn't know what the fourth could be? The summer ale could be judged at the BBQ assuming we have one again.

Hmmm, TBH I'm thinking 2 a year would be better for the following reasons:
1) There needs to be a sense of novelty about the event - too many could get tiresome
2) Some people aren't that keen on Mild. The Winter Warmer was quite open to interpretation but Mild as a category is quite prescriptive.
3) For brew-planning purposes 3 events could get a bit hectic, especially when taking in to account other competitions (BBF, National, Home Counties et al).
Happy to discuss at Jan meeting though...
