Upton Cheney Chilli Festival - 10th September

Post by Taz Ales »

Chillis, cider, food and music on Saturday 10th at Upton Cheney Chilli Company.
http://www.uptonchilli.co.uk/festival-t ... icket.html
Our annual Chilli Festival will take place on September 10th 2011.

This will be our third festival, and with the experience gained from the previous events we are hoping to put on a event that will be even better than before!

The one day festival will be bigger this year, although the old favourites such as the Chilli Eating Competition and the Chilli Tasting Table will be very much part of it. On top of this the chilli farm will of course be open to visit, which this year includes our sponsored show tunnel - courtesy of Simpson Seeds.

There will also be a chilli growers competition where enthusiasts will be encouraged to enter their fruits into a variety of catagories, to include funniest looking chilli and sexiest chilli! There will be demonstrations on sauce making as well as a demo on smoking, which will be based around small scale smoking using a Bradley Smoker as well as larger scale smoking using our soon to be constructed smoke house!
.

Food and drink will play a major role, with a chilli themed BBQ running throughout the day, the farm shop opening its doors for chilli related cuisene in the evening, and a cider influenced bar being open from midday through till close.

The festival is very much aimed at famillies and as such we will once again have a range of bouncy castles, and slides, as well as the Kangaroo boxing suits and traditional farmyard fun and games.

Pony rides and tractor rides will be taking place and of course everyone is encouraged to walk around the farm taking in the amazing scenery and far-reaching views.

The evening will be slightly less chilli related, although our bands will keep you hot hot hot with their funky sounds!
.

The daytime event - which starts at midday - will have a small entrance fee, whilst the evening event is tickets only. Ticklets will be available to buy from our online shop within the next few weeks.

We really look forward to seeing you for some chilli fun and games in September!
Taz... or Chris. It's up to you.

Work really gets in the way of the social. However, if anyone comes across a turtle's claw bush (or other exceedingly hot indoor ornamental) then I'd be eternally grateful if they'd snag one for me, re-imbursement on Mark's scale - slightly above cost.
Long live SHA(T)!

I'll be on the way back from a conference in Glasgow, so'll miss it. If they have any smoked chillis (chipotle) I'd be in the market for some for a smoked chilli porter.

Rubbish! I work for them all the time. Surprised they didn't ask me. Can one of you guys pay attention to what they do, I want to work out who they sent instead of me!
Burns stuff. And makes beer. Usually not at the same time.

I'll keep an eye on them if I'm not too overcome by the whole naga sausage hot dog.

Audience and entertainment all eating fire.....

Youngish bloke, tailcoat, stripey trews, dropped his clubs a bit and made a bit of a joke out of it, dribbled his fire thrower fluid a lot.

A reasonable example of style, 35/50.

Gig I was on today was with one of the office girls so she told me who it was. I know the chap, nice guy but specialises in teaching circus workshops not doing fire shows. Still, if he entertained the crowd he did his job well. Hope you had fun, cheers for looking out for me.
