I know the threaded stub that a post screws onto really is an obscure size. Mole grips are the way forward, definitely.

Don't accidentally swap the posts, gas in is usually grooved......

For wiping the inside I take a gentle approach to avoid damaging the passivated layer. Microfibre cloth and a ladies arm reaching in.

I tried mole grips first up, but the posts are screwed on real tight and I started shearing steel shavings off the nut and thought better of it. I'll go and get some long sockets from Halfords.

Pleased to report the bog brush works a treat! The best ideas are well simple and all that.

Will soak everything in percarbonate once I have it dismantled.

They really don't need to be all that tight. Maybe it's gunked up, try soaking it upside down in a bucket.

Yeah, that was the whole reason I started this thread. Was not liking the damage I was doing with the mole grips.

Maybe you're not using them properly. Mole grips aka vice grips or locking pliers are awesome, properly adjusted so they really clamp on tight they shouldn't move. Anyhow, the posts are on to tight if you can't shift them easilly, all that needs to happen is for a wee rubber 'O' ring to be compressed for them to seal.
