Incidentally, the weldless kit design I have seen is this one:

The guy on the video is Bobby from New Jersey - he has tons of videos on Youtube, and on his website:

www.brewhardware.com, on which he sells various kits, but they are pricey if you are not in the US (and maybe even if you are, I don't know).

No probs

if you give me a shout when you get started i will dig out what i got.

as for drilling stainless my top tips would be

make a dent with a nail, screw driver or similar before you drill a hole - saves the drill slipping around when you start
get some good quality drill bits
take it steady with a nice dollop of cutting paste on the tip

and where you can only drill pilot holes and use Qmax cutters to do the rest

Several actual, real-life sight glasses were seen at Arbor Ales yesterday, including a high-visibility modification.

Multiple photographic descriptions to follow.

Remember, if it's good for a commercial brewery, it's more than good enough for us.

I haven't ordered it yet, but will likely be getting the weldless sight-glass kit, but without the thermometer. I intend to get a temperature controller and that can tell me what I need to know, plus switch my HLT off when it gets to the right temperature ; )

What the pictures that Sandy hasn't quite got around to posting would have shown was that Arbor's sight tubes, really are tubes and flexible at that (presumably silicone).

The really novel point was a very visible plastic BB pellet that floats on top of the liquid level and gives a really easy way to see the level. Simple but brilliant.

Now that does sound good, as well cheap and very practical. It would be great to see pictures of it. I'll nudge Sandy ; )
