DIY chiller chest

Post by steve crawshaw »

I made a fridge for my kegs using the output from a maxi chiller python coil and some polystyrene. No more warm beer in the summer... :-)

Nice. Is that a length of 10mm copper or is it narrower?

yep 10mm. some of the bends aren't pretty but water seems to flow round it OK. The system seems to be able to control temps to about 7 degrees below ambient.
cheers

Good work. Have you considered adding something like glycol or cheap vodka to the water to lower it's freezing point?

This year I think that I will finally develop an invisible cardigan and my project to extract gold from spiders legs will also reap great rewards.

Very cool stuff. I'd always wondered what was going on underneath the bonnet of your tap and keg system, so to speak.
