Okay for me too. Keg exchange outside a pub - that should get Kegwatch worried.

I've made a rudimentary unscrewing tool for spear removal, it was so simple that I made 2 spares (from junk I had in the workshop) so if either Mark or Luke needs something to remove the spear let me know and you can have one (free of course)

Very very basic but here is the design [Pic 1][Pic 2] Click the pics as they are too big to display on the forum.

Sorry to be voice of dissent but your tool wont work in the long run as you will need to have something with good grip and leverage also something you can belt with a mallet!!
The simple answer is item number 26461 a basin wrench from toolstation for the princely sum of £2.49.
I recommend filling the ends a little so they grip the lugs in spear a little better but apart from that this is perfect!
Word of caution always always always ensure you have completely depressurised the keg before attempting to unscrew the spear!!!!!!!
To depressurise it is easiest to have a spare connector with a stop valve on the beer out line and the gas line .
Open the stop valve on the gas side and let it all bleed away. Another way is to unscrew the gas line in connecter till the gas can escape!
Also it is also good practice whenever disconnecting/connecting never to stand over the top of the keg always to the side.
Anybody have any other question about using kegs just ask, sorry about the safety lecture but I nearly took my head off once so I now have a healthy respect for pressurised kegs

All sanitised and filled up with porter.

I shall enjoy it in a few weeks :-)

I either had to put it in the pin or a cornie and some bottle and I hate bottling. So no contest really.
