Spinny spargey arm thingy

Post by I_used_to_brew »

Ok, so I'm convinced this is the dogs nadgers, my mash efficiency went up to 85% for an 80litre batch, a good 10% up.

Care to share the design? I have a load of shiny stuff from Mr Lard, but there's no sparge setup as yet.

I've got one but it is made of brass I've had it several years I have thought of a new design when I can get hold of some 1/4 inch and 6 mm brass tube or s/steel perhaps when this one wears out I might look into it

I was after the design as my equipment is a bit bigger than what that's designed for....

Hi it is easy to make a spinning sparge arm
you will need
1 15mm to 8 mm compression reducer(screw fix)
1 8mm comp equal t (Screwfix)
2 8mm stop ends(Screwfix)
1 length of 8mm aluminium tube ( eBay)
Cut the 8 mm tube to fit your mashtun in two pieces with the equal t in the middle and the stop ends glued on the ends/ or just pinch the pipe together.
Attach a small piece if 8 mm to the top of the equal t in the normal way.
Assemble the 8 mm into the reducer in the normal way to pinch the olive onto the pipe then unassemble
Then put the 8mm upright into the reducer with ptfe tape round the olive but don't nip it too tight this will be the bush to allow it to spin.
Attach the 15 mm side to your hot water supply
Drill a couple of small holes in the lateral 8mm pipe and add holes until you get the spin / flow rate you want( experiment)
Simples

This is a thread on jims beer kit
