spinning sparge arms aren't needed in small set ups...
I understand their need in big rigs but not for what homebrews do. Give me 2 meters of hose and i will show you how to hit 85% everytime.
your money is better spent elsewhere - flow rate out of the tun is far more important than how you add liquor.

Re: Spinny spargey arm thingy
Sounds good Tim. I was considering a non spinning dribbler/spray matrix until I got this. Something slightly hypnotic about the spinning :)
Re: Spinny spargey arm thingy
I forgot to say 1 of mr lards pumps make the spage arms work perfectly !
And they are hypnotic lol

Just to clarify, I did not build the sparge arm , I bought it and I think it was identical to this

I did however adapt it to higher flow rates by drilling out the holes a bit which allows a 2l/min flow and a good even spray.
I do like them and they do look great and have used them for years but as mr lard says they don't make much odds. I have done it with and without and got the same efficiency. This was after Mr lard said the pipe laid on the mash bed with a couple of cm coverage works a treat. Roger, I think your jump in efficiency is the false bottom (Mrlard one) as its over the entire bottom of the vessel so you get even flow through the mash bed.
Cheers

Could be right Rich, I had no need to recirculate at all which was a bonus too.
Lardy gear is well thought out and works efficiently. I have a pretty much 100% Lard-derived brewkit now.
