Also bought a 29L Burco boiler for £60 which is now fitted with a hop strainer and ball valve. Have bought a burst fire regulator from RS which I will use to control the boil. Am now hiding my bank statements from the mrs..

I like to keep a bottle of stimulant handy in case I see a snake, which I also keep handy.

Wll have to look at the pics later.
I've never tried to control the boil - actually, not true, 20+ years ago I used a simmerstat off a cooker to control the kettle element. This worked fine and cost next to nothing!

usually it's possible to remove the internal lip in a tank connector that prevents the 15mm tube passing all the way through - 5 mins with a round file or less with a dremel. Then there is no need to solder as the piece of pipe that forms the filter and joins onto the tank conector can be one piece.

good tip rog, should have thought of that, and saved myself £11 for a reel of lead free solder. Next time..
