Another ordinary bitter

Post by disasterjustavoided »

Trying this out..

3.6 kg Maris O (98.4%)
60g Black Malt (1.6%)
33g Fuggles @ 60
14g Challenger @ 60
10g Fuggles @ 15
2g Styrian Goldings flame out

Batch size 18L.

OG 1.046 FG 1.010 - est ABV 4.7

I easily get 1.010 with Nottingham yeast, although I have got some Windsor knocking about but having read a bit about it, it doesn't sound like an easy beast to tame.

It's a slight adaptation of a Graham Wheeler recipe for a Batham best bitter.

I found windsor didn't settle out at all well the first time I used it and the second time the wort got infected somehow. I've not used it again....

Needs cold crashing to get it to floculate from my experience.
