Amber Malt?

Post by MWiper »

Does anyone out there have an opinion on amber malt?

I love the idea and description but every time I have used it in a beer it's thrown up a slight sulphury biscuity aroma.

An egg biscuit.

I think its a fantastic malt. I've used it up to about 7% in bitters and up to 30% in stronger ales from Durden Park. Its best at around 57 EBC. But yes it will dominate the aroma and flavour even at 5% of the grist.
