Right, I've organised another Palmer-Grundy special - 16th July (Monday) hot-wing-and-pulled-pork filled pop up hoe down at 40 Alfred Place up St. Michael's hill and to celebrate I am going to brew tomorrow. Given that I'm serving American food, playing American country music and dressing Mark up in dungarees, can anyone quickly formulate an easy-drinking American beer using the following:
low colour MO
munich
odds-and-sods of malt (carahell, carapils and carared off the top of my head)
cascade
goldings
tettnanger
saaz
NS
citra
bramling X
Answers before half nine in the morning please.

Re: Lawnmowerish beer
Thanks lad, sounds good - if I'm hitting 1.042 shall I still hit 75 IBU (sounds a little high)? Matching BU:GU I reckon ~50IBU should do it...
Long live SHA(T)!
Re: Lawnmowerish beer
Think "Session IPA". The mash temp is bumped to give the mouthfeel of a bigger beer, with the bitterness, flavour and aroma remaining the same. It has worked well for me (and you can do the 20 minute no sparge mashh at 158F).Mike Palmer wrote:Thanks lad, sounds good - if I'm hitting 1.042 shall I still hit 75 IBU (sounds a little high)? Re: Lawnmowerish beer
So, scores at the doors:
3kg LCMO
3kg munich
1kg wheat malt
Mash 20min @ 68C
70g cascade @ 15min
85g cascade @ 75min
70g cascade, 30g nelson sauvin @ 85min
50g each cascade, citra and NS @ 80C
Ran out of cascade, so supplemented with a wee bit of nelson. OG 1.046, ~38L, 75% efficiency.

Re: Lawnmowerish beer
This fermented out to 1.011 in a week and had been split in two - both halves with 30g each of citra and NS, one with 30g bramling x, one with 30g tettnanger.
Long live SHA(T)!
