Andrew suggested that the recipes for the Bristol Beer Factory homebrew competition ought to be posted here, so here's my EastvilleAU recipe.
Name: EastvilleAU
Style: Pale/Gold
Starting/Finishing Gravity: OG: 1.041 FG: 1.010
Batch size: 5 gallons
3kg pale
500g wheat
30-35 IBUs
Bittering: Goldings – boil 90 min
Flavour/Aroma: 30g Halletau & 30g Saaz – boil 0 min (30 min settling)
(In case of confusion about the Halletau & Saaz... finish the boil and immediately sling in the flavouring hops. Leave it in the boiler to settle for 30 minutes and the hops should drop to the bottom with the goldings for the wort to straing through.)
EastvilleAU recipe, as requested.
Re: EastvilleAU recipe, as requested.
Any chance of the judges tasting comments to go along with the recipe?
Re: EastvilleAU recipe, as requested.
Sight: 6/10 - Pretty good clarity, a little condition
Aroma 7/10 - Honey and Spicy, a bit of tropical fruit
Taste 6/10 - Good malt / hop balance with some sweetness
Aftertaste 6/10 - dry, bitter finish, quite moreish
X-factor 6/10 - we would order a second, a good effort and very drinkable beer
