Mine is at my dad's, stuck on the side of our cider FV, in a North facing outhouse with fairly constant temp - perfect conditions, but it would be more use here. Have to get it back soon.alikocho wrote:I use one of these stuck to the fermenter. Opinion is they're pretty accurate.

Re: Red Shift
I have a heating belt wired up to a temperature controller:
Temp controller:
http://www.forttex.com/index.php?main_p ... bf0537901c
Heating belt:
http://www.brewuk.co.uk/store/otherequi ... usage.html
I found that using the heating belts alone made the wort get too hot. By using one of these the belt is only activated when it reaches below a certain temp. I can now ferment confidently within a range of 0.5 degrees, which is pretty cool.

Re: Red Shift
I would say that that looks better than mine dammit! For a start it is fully wired in!
For anyone thinking of buying one; one thing that I would recommend asking is whether the probe can be detached from the main unit.... its rather awkward to sterilise otherwise!

Realized I didn't give you that Chinook. Do you still want, or was this the recipe and you redisigned?

Re: Red Shift
I've been shamed into buying a fermenting 'fridge, I have a tube heater somewhere so I'm going to need one of those fancy controllers now.
Downside is I'll have to sell some stuff to make space, cornies, boilers, pumps to go soon....
