what if
what if I wanted to make a dark ipa say I add carafa special 3 plus chocolate malt to 4000g pale malt normally I would add aprox 6ml of crs to 11liters to the 4000g and several other pale malts in the mash tun but seeing that I have added the carafa special 3 plus the chocolate I would only add 0.3ml crs to the mash tun now if I cold steep the carafa special 3 and the chocolate over night then add to the boil would I revert back to putting 6ml crs in the mash tun seeing there is no dark malts present at this stage and another thing when I add it to the boil as it is cold would I need to bring it up to boiling before adding otherwise it would slow the boiling down
Re: what if
I reckon stick with the normal 6 ml if there are no dark malts in the mash don't think you need to bring the steeped wort up to boil just chuck it in hope it all goes well cheers mark.
