new conical flask
my wife bought me a 1liter borosilicate glass conical flask for my birthday I am hoping to use it to put my yeast starters in only problem is that the hole in the neck is too big to fit a conventional rubber bung with air lock looking for suggestions Rodney
Re: new conical flask
Boil it with a tin foil cap on it - this will sterilise the cap at the same time. It still allows CO2 to escape when the yeast get going.
Eat sh*t or die trying
Re: new conical flask
I use laboratory foam stoppers - allows air exchange, but keeps the nasties out. Boil (or autoclave) with them in the flask neck.

What is the internal diameter of the neck? I can pick you up a bung or two and bring them to the next meeting.
60 percent of the time it works every time.
