I did think of that, but then I'd have to put in all the formulae etc and I can't be cocked, so just want to get something off the shelf...

There are some open source options. Apparently these two are good:
http://www.gnucash.org
http://www.turbocash.net

I just use a spreadsheet in OpenOffice, but my business has quite a small number of transactions over the year so it's okay for me. If you've got a larger transaction rate then you'll probably want something that integrates with your online banking.
