Rodney said he will be away so wasn't going to come to the December meeting but I'm contemplating cycling in, its about 16-17 miles which isn't an problem I'd just have to be careful on the amount I drink.
I know several of you cycle to the meetings, how safe are bikes locked in Bristol?

There are bike racks opposite the pub. Not the safest place so I strongly recommend some good locks (gold standard) and leave the dogs do da's bike at home and ride something low brow.
I work on the basis of other bikes having locks that are easier to pick and my bike being less appealing than others.

Thought as much!
Time to get the old bike out of moth balls and give it a quick service!
I've a kryptonite lock so reasonably decent.

2 locks, always.
Bristol is terrible for bike theft, so make it bombproof. The facilities on King street are pretty good though, and plenty of people around to put off the chancers.

I've seen bikes stolen in seconds. If it can be cut with bolt cutters then it's easy for the bastards. Decent D shackles stand more of a chance. The cheap ones snap with a pry bar though :-(

TBH any lock can be hacked - cordless angle grinders render any lock useless in secs.
I personally don't worry about it to much.
I would be more concerned about a long ride and a skin full of beer those winter warmers do exactly what the say on the tin

Fair point, having initially thought there wasn't an appropriately timed bus back I now find there is. the 178 from Temple Gate :)
so I'll be in on the bus.
