Nice pub for a romantic evening

Post by periolus »

Any suggestions for a place with nice little dark nooks & crannies, soft lighting, other romantic features for a nice evening out. There must be some in the centre of Bristol that haven't been commercialised beyond the point of clinical & emotionsl sterility ; )

Okay, to be more specific, somewhere a bit like the Duke of York but in town. Or just something like it. Anywhere? : )

I was in the Barley Mow last night. I'm impressed with what they've done. 8 ales on the pumps and about the same on keg. Not sure if they'll manage to sustain this with the custom you might expect. There are some nice dark corners too :-)

I like to keep a bottle of stimulant handy in case I see a snake, which I also keep handy.

The Bank behind The Lanes is nice, Me and Danni had our first date in there. The Volunteer Tavern is also nice but only just counts as in town, it's behind Cabot Circus. Then there is the Bag O Nails, tiny little place so not as private but there are a couple of nooks and the beer is great.
Burns stuff. And makes beer. Usually not at the same time.
