Hop growing 2011

Post by I_used_to_brew »

Thanks to Richard many of us now have fuggle rhizomes to grow this year. Mine have sat in the kitchen for a few days and have quite a few red buds developing and so I've potted them up and put them outside untill I get chance to think exactly where to plant them.

More updates from me and hopefull other growers during the year.

Planted my two at the allotment today. Looking forward to hop asparagus already! And hops to brew with, obviously.

Yep, planted my rhizomes too. Put them in the allotment, plenty of mulch. Need to think of how to get hold of some sturdy poles to build my supports.....

Put mine in the allotment too, alongside my Challenger, Northdown, Target and Goldings.

I'm attempting to get some US hops - they're about $4 a rhizome (plus postage) and should be available soon if anyone is interested. Paperwork will be handled for the import, and they've imported to Europe before. The website is here http://www.ebrew.com/beer/hop_rhizomes.htm
