As discussed in last night's meeting at the Miners:
Theory of ageing beer in wood. Starts at 2hours 5 mins from the beginning http://www.thebrewingnetwork.com/member ... -23-08.mp3
How to make your own no-rinse sanitiser by the bloke who invented starsan, discussion starts at 39 minutes 22 seconds from the beginning :

The bits I gleaned from this are:
1. good bleach has clear yellow green colour not cloudy
and has no odour
2. less sodium hydroxide in cheap brands usually
3. Using bleach at 5.25% 50,000 PPM
1oz of bleach in 5 gallons of water gives chlorine at 80 PPM, follow with 1oz of white vinegar gives no-rinse sanitiser
30 seconds contact will kill anything
ONLY MIX THE BLEACH AND VINEGAR BY ADDING THEM TO THE WATER. IF YOU MIX THEM NEAT IT WILL GIVE OFF POISONOUS CHLORINE GAS.

I just don't fancy trying anything with vinegar in as a no-rinse sanitiser.
I remember that Iodophor no-rinse rubbish, you could taste it from the other side of the room :)
