Grodziskie \ Gratzen

Post by steve crawshaw »

At BBC this week we tasted sam fisher's smoked wheat, and I talked about the fantastic smoked wheat gratzen beer that I tasted at NHBC. This topic has just appeared on the beersmith blog.

The PDF linked to in the summary gives some good tips on how to brew. I would like to try this but I imagine oak smoked wheat malt might be hard to come by...

Steve, I brought this at the weekend

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1592 ... UTF8&psc=1

There is a Gratzer recipe in it. I'll photocopy it for you and bring it to club.

OK, brewing this now:

http://beersmithrecipes.com/viewrecipe/377458/gratzer

have been consulting with a chap called bruce in the US, and phil, who is also doing one. Step mash for protein went OK, and no sticking of the mash. Going for a cool fermentation using the San Diego super yeast. Kazbek hops. 100 minute boil.

cheers
