Captain Lawrence Espresso Stout

Post by alikocho »

Growler Fill in tap room

Malts: will ask
Hops: Goldings, Simcoe

6% ABV

Black with tan head. Opaque. Coffee, vanilla, caramel, roast aroma. Assertive hop bitterness and moderate earthy and piney hop flavour. Coffee, some sweetness (caramel, toffee), and a bitterness from roast that just stops short of being astringent (although it's going that way). Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Lingering coffee into the finish.

A decent, if not fantastic, espresso stout. Bordering on becoming astringent, the roasted malts and coffee mix may need some tweaking. Good firm bitterness, and a pleasing beer. Southern Tier (also in New York State) do a better Coffee Stout - http://southerntierbrewing.com/for%20do ... jahva.html
