Anyone tried this? Fuck me, what a beer! 13 squid for 650 ml from Corks and worth every penny (especially if you get it as a gift ;-) ).

It's billed as a Belgian style ale brewed with raspberries and aged in wine barrels 9 % abv. What you get is a ridiculously complex blend of subtle esters in a light base beer, with a bomb of tart fruit and spicy vanilla Oak flavours, and just enough carbonation and bitterness to keep things in balance.

I was a big fan of this when it was available in 330ml bottles. The guys at corks used to take the piss out of how often I'd buy it

Yeah.

Lucky someone gave advice on wood age beers for birthdays, huh ;)

Indeed. She also got me:

wiper and true/arbor 'saisonal' - decent enough but not a saison by any means imo;

an interesting micro brewed hefe from bavaria that I can't remember the name of - not a big fan of hefes generally but this one was pretty restrained and drinkable;

and wild beer's 'sourdough' - I really rate this beer. The first beer of theirs that actually lives up to the guff written on the side of the bottle. A berliner weisse style primary fermented in oak with a sourdough culture + brett. 3.8 % abv mellow fruit with crisp tartness and a touch o funk.

Arbors Bristol Beer week Beer biere de garde was well wide of the mark to. Lots of UK craft brewerys seem to get the Belgian & France stuff wrong.
