Presumably he won't get asked again and his 'judging style' might be explained to other competition organisers?

That has already been taken in hand.

Good good. I had the bad luck to have him judge two of my three entries. The sheets are abysmal to put it politely.

(not in anyway pinning this on you Ali btw, sometimes you just get a duff judge I s'pose)

Got mine, thanks Ali.

I've been 'gamekeeper' and 'poacher' long enough to know that sometimes Judges comments dangerously raise my blood pressure. But in the end its what is perceived at that moment in time. That said I think if you're providing this level of feedback there should at least be some consistency. Describing a beer as overall quite pleasant with only minor faults, ticking the boxes above the half way line and then scoring at 15/50 doesn't fit. I judged in the best in show and the really good beers found their way to the top which is what counts at the end of the day.

I'm entering the North Devon Show tomorrow hoping to have better luck.

They had actually been very good in the past. This year was a big problem. It was first pointed out to me by another judge, and I had words twice during the day with the individual and since.

The problem was further compounded by the way that because of who they were they led their partner to socre in line with them. They gave me a bad score as well.

Name and shame!

I think it's always going to be hard to get consistency in something like this - quantifying something so qualitative

Food was good! 10 out of 10! Sorry very good! 9 out of 10!

There's little purpose dragging someone's name through the mud. If you don't know who it is, then you weren't affected.

Consistency is hard. The issue is that this individual was consistently harsh.
