BCB discussion - water treatment

Post by MapperMatt »

Further to a point I raised on Thursday i would just like to clarify that Steve C was right. Some people have noticed their total alkalinity go down as a result of the increased rainfall this year; not up as I had suggested. It is discussed here on Jims:

That being said, my alkalinity as measured on Thursday is now 210 CaCO3 ppm. The highest its ever been!

I like to keep a bottle of stimulant handy in case I see a snake, which I also keep handy.

Hi Steve
I use a Palintest tablet count kit for measuring alkalinity. the product number is AS 072.

I got them as part of a bulk purchase by LAB about 2 years ago.

I use a Salifert Test Kit. There are many types. We need the "Carbonate Hardness/Alkalinity" one. They should be around £7 from aquarium/pet centres
