I'm brewing a Munich Dunkel, apparently it's a type of l*ger :o

I've also learned that you can get 7.5Kg of malt in a 23litre mash tun with room to spare.

11am and it's time to sparge.

There we go, six, relaxed hours, start to finish and I have 40 litres of l*ger.

Thanks for that Rog.

Having done a stock take I realise I have plenty of:

Cascsade, Williamette, Goldings, Fuggles, Aurora, Target, Saaz with bits and bobs

of Pioneer,Amarillo, simcoe!

About 1 Kg in all!
Should keep me going until "Humungus Hop Day" next week!

I think I need another Freezer! I think I am almost not joking too!

If this l*ger thing works out I'd like some Saaz or hallertauer or tetang for the next hop 'thing' unless anybody has some to swap, I've completely used up any stocks of Saaz I had :(

Munich Dunkel is a Lager. What yeast did you use, and what temperature are you fermenting at?

I feel that it's actually important to separate Craft Lager from macro-brewed yellow beer.

As to hops I have an amount of American stuff in the freezer.

SO-4 at about 12c, normal cellar temp, if I want higher I use a heat mat, if I want lower I don't get it :)

Yesterday(Sunday) I brewed another version of my Cascade Bitter, this time with 120g of Cascade added in the last fifteen minutes of the boil for bitterness and aroma and 60g of the same post boil just for aroma. I must Admit I did forget (again!) to wait until the wort was at 80 degrees and put hem straight in at about 95 degrees!

Still, it smells fantastic even now!

I'll post the recipe if it turns out well.

Just starting a Transatlantic Stout. 1.057 target SG, 75 IBU from US and UK hops, should turn out around 5.5%. Fermented with Burton Ale Yeast. And I'm going to take the Lagunitas approach and dry-hop.

The Munich Dunkel has been kegged, very small sample was quite promising.

Since then I've made and APA with Cascade and Citra, used US-05, it's coming along and it's only 9 days in the FV, should be able to keg it sometime this coming weekend. Early sample was very encouraging.

Cider is all blended and I've got a keg of cider and one of perry on tap.

Just checked my Imperial stout. Gravity at 1.028 down from 1.090. Not convinced it's finished, but it smells and tastes fantastic.

Planning an IPA for tomorrow. Same hope schedule as my Black IPA, but Citra instead of the Styrians.

The I'll be out of pale malt. Anyone else want to get another sack?
