Winter Warmer Competition - 1st December

Post by Taz Ales »

Next month's meeting is the Winter Warmer Competition. This year we have a new prize for the winning entry... I'm not going to tell you what it is right now, so you'll have to stay in suspense for a bit longer, but I reckon you're all going to want it.

Most of you know how it works, but for those of you who don't, here's the gist:
  • Bring 3 bottles of your best Winter Warmer beer.
    Bring some cheese.
The rest of the instructions will be given on the night.
I don't have an entry this year so it looks like I'll be running it. If you're entering a beer please could you reply to this post, just so I have a reasonable idea of numbers. I know that some won't see this so I'll be bringing plenty of extra stickers and voting sheets, but having at least some of the entries beforehand will speed things up on the night.

I like to keep a bottle of stimulant handy in case I see a snake, which I also keep handy.

I'll bring something too. Definitely digging deep in the beer storage pile for this one.

OK cool, so it looks like I'll be coming to my first meeting complete with 3 bottles of my beer. Excellent!

Quick question though.... are there any restrictions on bottle type? I bottle all mine in colourless glass. Personal preference so I can see it clearing and I find it easier to pour. I appreciate the light strike issue but mine are all kept in a brew fridge well out of the light. Is this an acceptable receptacle? (A lot of competitions specify brown glass only, so I thought I'd better ask).

See you there.

Bring it any way you like, if it's light struck or has any other faults then people will be honest. Criticism is constructive, and it helps us improve.
