6.9% ABV of awesomeness..... I think that i have found the best Black IPA I have ever had. Really hoppy, excellent balance in all departments.

Brains Craft Ales
More from Friday night......
We tried
Weiss Weiss baby (Bavarian Weiss)
Barry island IPA (American IPA)
Weiss Weiss berry (Bavarian Weiss with berries)
All pretty disappointing really.
Three IPA could have done with a lot more Hops

Rich Poole and I had a little tasting session on Friday, which included the Wild beer Epic Saison and Madness IPA.
The Saison was a bit of a let down but the IPA was really good.

I think my French pal paid €13 euros a bottle. I have a glass as well but the stem snapped in transit.

Re: Westvleteren XII
I opened a bottle of this with Rich P last night. What an awesome Beer. Really complex and rich, lots of dried fruit flavors, almonds, dark rum.
Well worth a taste if you can get your hands on it.

Re: Camra Bristol Beer Festival 2013
Do you know if all of the ales are available at each session or will all the good ones have gone by Saturday?

Re: Oaking
Thanks,
So did you add the chips to in secondary? and how long was it over the chips for?
I usually brew a 20l batch and leave it in secondary for around 6 weeks. Do you think circa 50g would give a notocable effect?
Phil

Oaking
I have an Imperial Stout recipe that i think would benifit from a bit of Oak. As i don't have a nice big oak barrel can anyone recommend the best method of using oak chips. I'm assuming that i can use chips in secondary but do they need sterilising? What sort of quantities do i need? How long does i...
