Oak Barrels from BBF
Just in case anyone's planning a big brew (or patio planting!) and wants oak barrels, this just turned up on BBF's facebook: "We have a number of oak casks for sale. We have used them for many of the 12 Stouts and beer ageing ranges we have recently released but they have served their purpose &...

Re: Should we bottle?
Can you rack it to plastic bins or barrels, put it somewhere warm, and see what it does before bottling?
Presumably you're not going to bottle straight from the barrel, but racking it to something else first. Can you leave it in that for a while to see if it ferments further?
How's it tasting?

Re: Splitting the brewday
I'm going to give this a whirl tonight, it sounds like a great idea for weekends when you want to get a brew in, but the rugby starts at 2:30! As a relative newcomer to this, it also allows for a break midway to take stock and think about what's next. I'm brewing my first saison this weekend, roll o...

Re: Mash Tun
When I was deciding on my mash tun I looked into doing an ice box conversion, but in the end I went for a stainless thermopot from france (or was it germany?), I have a link at home. I went for a 38L size, but they go up to 80L IIRC. I don't know how the prices compare for bigger sizes, but mine wor...

Re: Mitch Steele - IPA
If you liked the book, there's an interview with Mitch Steele about the book on basic brewing radio: http://www.basicbrewing.com/index.php?page=basic-brewing-radio-2012 He gives a quick overview of the history of IPA and goes on to talk about hopping beer and a bit of discussion about Stone beers an...

Re: Fermentation maintenance
Excellent, thanks for that I didn't get a chance to search for anything this morning. Sounds like a blowoff tube might be the answer, though I'll have to wait till I get home to see the pictures - damn internet filter at work!
