I got a 5-pack from them about a year ago and they have all been fine. They held pressure even just emptying a kettle of boiling water and letting the air inside heat up by shaking. It was cheaper to go to their Irish site (.ie), pay a delivery charge and order in Euros but that may have changed. Lo...

Probably no or very little CRS for stout/porters.
Brupaks water treatment is a straightforward guide. You measure the carbonate level first which is easy to do with a Salifert carbonate test kit (enough for dozens of tests).

thanks for that but i want fuggle whole hops and east kent golding whole hops checked out whs hops they do fuggle t 90 i dont want pellets Willamette would be a reasonable substitute (one of my favourites). This is not a personal recommendation, just a seller I've had bookmarked for some time as the pots look well made and are reasonably cheap even including delivery from Italy e.g. £51 delivered for a 35L pot (I was mulling over the 70L, £64 delivered). Also, I can't see the stainless spec in the list...

What type of yeast do you use? Dried yeast such as Nottingham doesn't need aerating (pdf).

I've never been too concerned about estimating cell counts as I understood what exponential growth implied and my sanitation has been pretty good. Also, results of experiments I found on the web suggest many people prefer severely underpitched beers and many more couldn't tell the difference. Lastly...
