sounds like the mesh on your strainer is two fine (trub blocks it up) I have had the same problem in the past. easiest solutions i found was make one out of a sainsburys stainless sieve as thats about the correct mesh you should be looking for. that or whack a pump on it - it will either unblock it ...

just wondering what sort of additions you guys are having to make to get you mash ph into range.
i live in emersons green and find 1.1ml per liter seems to do the job giving me a PH of between 5.3 and 5.2

I tend to get it delivered to work so never a problem. However it would be nice to find a local supplier at a sensible rate. Do any of the micro breweries around here supply the public?
