Re: problem with mash tun
Screwfix do a hot water cylinder jacket for £10. I don't know how often they do them on special offer - I got one from them for £5 some years back. As they're covered in plastic they can be washed down if they get messy and any rips can be taped up. http://www.screwfix.com/p/hot-water-cylinder-jacke...

Re: BIAB / no sparge brewing
I assumed the seams in a bag would be the the most likely point of failure so I used a single net curtain "voile" padded around the inside of the boiler and hanging over the rim. Secured around the rim with rope (others use bungee cords), when it is time to lift just gather up the overhang...

Re: Cornies
but the O-rings on the posts clearly haven't been changed and one is missing. grumpydev on the brewing forum had a smashed pressure release valve on one of his, emailed them and they're sending out a replacement without any fuss. These cornies are allowed to be "cosmetically challenged" b...

These work out at £34ish delivered. They are refurbed, so no pissing around with them. https://www.thehomebrewcompany.ie/a-refurbished-corny-kegs-19lt-ball-lock-p-2870.html I've had good service from them, maybe there should be a sticky about using this company's web sites: thehomebrewcompany.co.uk...

Re: 25Kg sacks of pale ale malt for £14.77
Could you get anything from RCH or Buttcum as you're halfway between them. Are you implying that the sort of beers I brew just use the commonest hops and malts? ... You'd be right. I popped into Butcombe's a couple of year's ago to see their "shop". They only sold tee shirts, glasses, key...

Re: 25Kg sacks of pale ale malt for £14.77
I may be missing something Hi Roger, VAT is included (16.22 EURO ex VAT @23% = 19.95 EURO inc) plus it was my 6-monthly order. Twice a year I need to order around 5Kg of other grains/hops/chemical/sundries. At that weight the delivery charge from the places I have used is the same as for 30Kg so a ...

25Kg sacks of pale ale malt for £14.77
Hi guys, The Homebrew Company are selling 25Kg sacks of Minch Pale Ale Malt for 19.95 EUROS or about £14.77. To get that price, order from their Irish .IE web site and make your order in EUROS, letting Paypal do the currency exchange when you pay. Their other grains are cheap too though hops are a b...

Re: use of yeast
Hi Rodney,
What yeast is it?
Wilko's sell Gervin Ale Yeast (Nottingham) for £1.75. It'll probably come around on sale again soon with 20% off. If you can substitute 1/2 pack of that I wouldn't faff around with starters from the sake of 85p. What does 100g DME cost you?
