Re: Chorlton brewing Amarillo sour

I was chatting to the brewer, Mike. On the Citra Brett, he harvested the yeast from a 30-year old (I think) bottle of Berlinerwiess. He's very keen for people to harvest the yeast from the can and to use it themselves, because it will help to revive a probably now extinct strain. I'm not a fan of Br...

Roasted Barley - £1 per kilo bag

I have 3x 1kg bags of roasted barley (Malt Miller), which have a sell-by date of Oct 17th. Would anyone like them for £1 a bag? If not, they'll just go in the bin.

Re: New home brew shop in Bristol

I'll run the numbers again - I need to talk to Rob first though, as some of the numbers seem off. For instance, it's more expensive to buy 3kg bags (per kilo), than it is to buy 1kg bags. Normally it's the other way around. Out of interest, what do you pay for 1kg of malt including postage? Based on...

Re: New home brew shop in Bristol

I apologise for the lack of updates, but I've been (thankfully) very busy and it took a while to get the prices, then run some numbers. I shall hopefully be stocking some crushed malts in the next two weeks, in 1kg bags at £2.40 per bag. At the moment, I have been offered the following for stock: Ma...

Re: New home brew shop in Bristol

Had a long and very enjoyable meeting with Rob Neale today (the malt miller). I will hopefully be stocking a range of his products in the next few weeks. If you could give me an idea of what sort of grains, hops and so on you are most interested and the sort of volumes you normally purchase, it woul...

I left Future Publishing coming up for six years ago, been doing all sorts since! But no, I've not worked at Keynsham. Perhaps you are thinking of the Manger of the Keynsham shop, Martin, who also lives in Brislington?

Re: New home brew shop in Bristol

Don't why I thought it was Saturday. I do late night opening on a Thursday, until 8pm. This may change though, as so far, not many people seem to want to come in late.

Re: New home brew shop in Bristol

You should come along to our next meeting, would be good meet you. I've already been invited, so will do my best to be there, although I do of course work on Saturdays and would need to walk and feed my dogs (and myself!) before coming out again. So I may not get there right at the start, but will ...

Re: New home brew shop in Bristol

I've been looking at Mr lard's site - got some very shiny things on there, which I'm very tempted by! I'll ask him about corny spares, too. There is at least one company manufacturing corny kegs out in China - no idea of the quality, but they are quite cheap, although you'd need to bulk buy. Italy w...

Re: New home brew shop in Bristol

Hi Roger I've been looking at Rob's stuff as he seems to do his own version of StarSan, which I'd very much like to stock as I use it all the time. The only other importer I know of is a competitor and doesn't do wholesale, as far as I'm aware. I did look into importing StarSan myself, but I'd need ...
