Re: Danstar London ESB
I saw on another forum that a guy had written to lallemand/danstar, and they said it was just a re-release of a discontinued yeast from yesteryear. It used to be called something else. I don't know how reliable plebs on the internet are, though, so I'd take this with a pinch of salt.

Thermometer
I have been using two thermometers that I got from Wilko. The other day I used them together and they were 10 degrees Celcius apart and I have no idea which one is right. This might explain why all my beers are quite thin. (had a similar experience transferring "10 liters" of liquid betwee...

Un-Fermented taste in beer
If you cast your mind back to the latest bcb meeting I brought along a best bitter. I overheard some conversation from down the table that there was a kind of unfermented wort character to the beer, even though fermentation had clearly taken place. I agree with that, and I don't want to get it again...

Re: Apricot taste in bitter
Thanks for your help. I quite fancy a go at culturing yeast, so will have a go in the near future.

Apricot taste in bitter
I'm going to try brewing a few bitters. A flavour that I particularly like in bitter is an apricot taste (st Austell's tribute has the flavour I'm talking about). I was doing some searching on the net for the yeast/temperature combination that might generate the necessary esters, but am struggling t...

Re: Medicinal taste
Thanks steve, Yeah my temperature control isn't great so that could definitely be it. I heard that the wilkos yeast was just danstar nottingham repackaged, seems to be a well supported theory on various websites.
